2008 Master Plan Update
DDI and its consultants requested that DAD conduct two charrettes to focus on the area that constitutes the urban core of Durham. We worked with DDI’s consultants to identify specific areas that were ripe for redevelopment and redesign, including the Downtown loop. Our chief role was to facilitate the charrettes, but the plan and its recommendation were made by the consultants. Nevertheless, many of the identified opportunities were included and are still in consideration at this date.

2016 Master Plan Update
In the summer of 2015, Durham Area Designers provided Downtown Durham, Inc.  Downtown Durham with facilitation services at its public workshop for the Master Plan Update.  After a training workshop in community facilitation, Durham Area Designers’ members guided citizens through a process to gather thoughts and comments on Master Plan topics.
